Scentual Healing

I went to the doctor today. He told me I have a hemorrhage that is threatening to rupture. I walked out of his Beverly Hills office and right into the swanky, over-priced beauty supply next door. I bought the most aromatic, expensive, exotic, luxurious body butter I could find. ... I feel better.

  1. Well gosh I hope you are okay. And that's not just because I depend on your blog for beauty advice. I really hope you're okay. :)

  2. You're a sweetheart, Krissi. As it turns out, I'll be just fine. Three days of rest and luscious lubricants have done me well. I appreciate your support of both me AND my blog. We both thank you. :-) Now on to prettier things ...

  3. I'm glad. You seem like a sweetheart and your writing always makes me smile.
I have a question if I might... I have red, dry curly hair. My mom uses Carol's Daughter products. The styling milk is awesome, but I HATE HATE HATE the smell. Do you know of a product that will hold my curls and help with frizz, but doesn't smell like my grandfather's home made cough medicine?

  4. Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Hair Milk fumes, either. Have you tried the Hair Rules Curly Whip (my 2/21 post)? That's my go-to product for curl definition and hold.

Otherwise, if you wanna stick with the Carol's Daughter line, I would recommend the Healthy Hair Butter or Some of Marguerite's Magic (HSN.com or Sephora.com). Though not intended as curling creams, I think they work better than the Hair Milk. They both will smooth and define your curls, it's just a matter of preference. The HH Butter has a more herbal scent, while the SM Magic has a sweeter, milder fragrance. I prefer the Magic for that reason. Beware, though. These are thicker than the milk and (as with all Carol's Daughter products) will leave you slicker than an oil derrick if you use too much. Nobody likes a Jerry Curl, so experiment by starting with a little. Since the Curly Whip can be a bit drying, I often layer it on top of the Magic. I get more hold that way too.

If you prefer less moisture and more hold, you might wanna go with the Kinky-Curly Tiny Twirls (curlmart.com). I don't personally use this becuase my hair is so thick that the amount I have to use causes a lot of second-day flakage, but I use it on my daughter (who is 1/2 caucasian, w/finer, thinner, looser curls) and the small amount I use on her works like a dream.

If none of these work for you, let me know. I've tried just about everything, so I can give you some more options. Good luck!

  6. Thanks for the good thoughts, Sue. They seem to be working. If I remember to take it easy for a few more days, I should be just fine.
